Surf Your Own Site

Your practice Web site is one of your most powerful marketing tools. When was the last time you surfed it?

Most patients — current or prospective — turn first to your Web site for key information about your practice, including phone numbers, fax numbers and addresses. Is your site up to date?

I recently sat in a physician waiting room and overheard a conversation between a frustrated patient and the receptionist who was trying her best to assist. The patient was trying to have a form faxed between that office and a surgery center for an upcoming procedure, and the two offices were somehow not connecting. Long story short, after about 10 minutes of back and forth, they discovered that the source of the problem was an incorrect office fax number listed on that practice’s Web site. One wrong number had caused this patient two days worth of frustration.

Plan some time periodically to review your site and anytime there are practice changes, be sure to make prompt updates. Sometimes the smallest things can make the biggest difference  — good or bad.
