Just Pick Three

Building a successful medical practice means building better relationships — with your patients, your staff, your referral sources, and your community. When you think of how many individuals fall into these categories and specific strategies you could employ to strengthen your connections with them, it can be overwhelming.

So simplify.

Just pick three people to start with.

It can be any three, but I would encourage you to reflect on those who make the biggest difference for your practice. It could be your top referring physician, your nurse/assistant, or a long-time patient who has referred numerous friends, family, or co-workers to you over the years. Now say thank you — a meaningful, heartfelt, personal thank you. It can be as simple has a handwritten note or get more creative — give to a cause they are passionate about and do it in their honor/name. Just be sure to tell them in your own words how much they mean to your practice and share specific examples of how they have helped, impacted  or touched you. Show you noticed. Show you truly care.

Not so tough, right?

Now make a pledge to do this once a month or once a quarter — find a timeframe that works for you. You will be pleasantly surprised and delighted by the effect. People love to feel appreciated, and in our increasingly social and digital world, they love to share these stories with others.

It is about quality more than quantity. Do the right things the right way for a few, and the impact will scale.
